Good evening!

The Market is open for orders and there is a lot to choose from, including RED RASPBERRIES! There is also a lot of other produce that will preserve nicely!

Berry Festival is THIS FRIDAY July 21. Co-sponsored by River Ridge Organics featuring everything Berry. Make history by entering the Traditional Berry Pie Contest sponsored by Grayson County Historical Society and win $100! This is a true berry pie contest limited to crust, berries, sweetener and spices. Support the IFM and buy some delicious Berry sorbet. This year you can buy it by the scoop or take pints home! It’s a tasty way to support the Market. Be sure to bring the kids out for some berry fun at the Kid’s Corner!

Other Happenings…

Johnathan Houser of Blue Feather Creek Farm has fresh pasture raised poultry available weekly! Birds range between 3-4 pounds and cost $4 per pound. A limited number of birds are processed weekly, typically on Thursdays. Contact Jonathan Houser at (757)687-9438 or by e-mail at houserjc@appstate.edu. Also from Blue Feather Creek, Reserve your Thanksgiving turkey TODAY! Turkeys will range between 10-12 pounds and will cost $4 per pound. A very limited number will be raised so contact Jonathan as soon as possible.

Get Out of Your Bubble Day is on July 22! The Center for Common Ground and Diversity (101 E. Stuart Dr., Galax) will be hosting a fun filled day of activities for all ages. The day will start at 8 am with a yard sale, starting at 10 am there will be a workshop on building raised beds out of pallets (if you build one, you can take it home!). Local band, Johnny Come Quickly, will go on stage at 12:30. There will also be plenty of bubbles and sidewalk chalk for the kids (and adults!) as well as popcorn and cotton candy available for purchase. Take the day to get out of your bubble and meet new people in the community!

Hello!

Be sure to place your orders on the online market by Monday night at 8 pm! There’s a great variety of produce that our farmers are working hard to provide! Also an abundance of meats, honeys, baked goods, eggs and more! Try cooking farm to fork all week by shopping on both our online and our outdoor markets this week!

Hello!

If you haven’t already, be sure to check out the market this week! It’s seriously teeming with a huge variety of veggies! Hey Friends!

The online market is full of produce! We have beets, broccoli, cucumbers, carrots, onions, garlic, lettuce, kale, mushrooms, rainbow chard and even EGGPLANT available to order! A lot of what is available can be frozen, dehydrated or even canned and enjoyed later in the year! Seriously, you won’t regret preserving all of this delicious, tasty, locally grown produce this Winter! If you are available to pick up an order on Wednesday at Grayson Landcare between 4 pm and 6 pm then help our vendors out by placing an order this week.

It’s that time of the week, the market is open for ordering! You have plenty of time to kick back, look through the market, and check things off your grocery list!! What an easy way to shop for all of your favorite local items from all of your favorite local vendors! Be sure to place your orders by Monday, June 26th at 8 pm! This month our auction item is a fabulous canning jar tray handcrafted by Scott Jackson-Ricketts and Lukas Burgher. The tray is approximately 20" long, 14" wide, 3" tall. The bidding starts at $51.00 or more this week! Be sure to look at the “Auction Items” section on the market for a picture and more information.

FARM FRESH KID’S DAY is NEXT Friday, June 30th all day at the market (9 am-1 pm)! This fantastically fun day will include GAMES, ROPING LESSONS, NATURE ACTIVITIES, PONIES, PRINTING WITH MISS ELLIE AND MORE! Please spread the word!

We have a fun and busy day at our outdoor market this week! Join us Friday for the first of ONLY 2 Fiber Days this year! This is a great opportunity to purchase yarns, roving, raw fiber, baskets, and an array of knit, woven, and felted goods. Come and meet the artisans who often raise the animals providing fiber for the handmade items in their booths. Feel free to ask questions about farming with sheep, goats, alpacas, and rabbits, and see demonstrations of how raw fiber is turned into usable products.be sure to put the next Fiber Day on your calendar, August 5.

The KID’S CORNER will be open at the market this Friday between 10 am and 11 am! Bring all the kids you know and celebrate another great market season! We’ll be planting a three sisters guild and tasting locally grown cherries!
