After you click “Confirm” on your time, be sure to enter your information and click, “Schedule an Event”. You will get a confirmation e-mail. If you do not receive a confirmation, you are not scheduled and need to try again. This is new for all of us, let me know if you need help.

You may have seen a flyer in your box this afternoon about Food Independence. This is a new food pantry created by Tom Simpson, Anita Simpson, Ken Kreuzer and Bev Fermor. It will be operated as a program under Grayson Landcare’s 501©(3). For the first three months, this program will run on pledges and donations until they qualify to partner with Feeding America, Southwest Virginia, to obtain food at reduced rates.

If you are interested in helping out, Feed Independence is in need of canned protein products, preferably fish/tuna, chicken and beef (12 oz cans are preferred). At each Friday’s market pickup, a bin will be placed on the sidewalk to receive your donation. Let’s make Food Independence’s goal of reducing food insecurity in Independence a reality!
