Upcoming Events:

The Tomato Festival is coming up on August 2nd! It will feature a People’s Choice tomato salsa contest, and Monster Tomato Weigh-in, both first place prizes are $100! A big thank you to our generous sponsors; Matthews Foundation and Skyline Bank. Bring a quart of salsa to the Market by 9:30 am, everyone is invited to taste and vote for the winner to be announced at noon. Bring your tomato to the Market by 11, weighing at noon. We’ll also have a tomato tasting! Stop by the Kid’s Corner from 10-11 am to make vegetable prints (feel free to enter these into the Grayson County Fair!). This will be the last Kids’ Corner of the season until Apple Day in October!

The Grayson County Fair is happening August 9th-10th! Come out to participate or watch the Youth Livestock Show, Honey Show, Poster Competition, or General Competitions (including fruit, vegetable, field crops, flower arrangements, ornamental, potted plants, food preservation, art work, crafts, and more!). If you’re interested in participating in any of these competitions, please follow this link, Grayson County Fair. While you’re enjoying the various competitions, take a trip around to our various agricultural exhibitors or bring your kids out to participate in some fair games! If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Pridgen at 276-768-0597

The last Fiber day of the market season is Friday, August 23rd. This will also be our “Christmas in August” craft fair. Browse and purchase yarns, roving, raw fiber, baskets and an array of knit, woven and felted goods; and meet the artisans who often raise the animals providing the fiber for the booths!

Mark your calendars for our upcoming Ice Cream Social fundraiser happening on August 25th from 2-5 pm. Courthouse Street will be closed down for the event, which will feature ice cream with delicious homemade toppings and desserts. Cost is $10, and $5 for kids 10 and under. All proceeds fund the market.

Thank you for supporting the Independence Farmers Market!
